Sir, While I cannot comment on the suitability of Tony Blair for the position of president of the European Council (“Blair and Barroso: Europe’s team from hell”, July 20), Wolfgang Münchau hardly does justice to the 1980s joke about a European hell.
According to my less politically correct European friends, in heaven the cooks were French, the policemen English (yes, English police did have that reputation), the lovers Italian, and everything was organised by the Germans.
In hell, the cooks were English, the policemen French, the lovers German and everything was organised by the Italians.

Dürfen wir seine Heiligkeit, den Dalai Lama, um Auskunft bitten, da er gerade, an der Universität des Autors, einer Ehrendoktorwürde zuteil wurde – für seine „wissenschaftliche Leistung“.
